Freshly grilled pork is served with rice and vegetables. I like it with a fried egg as well.
In many corners of Ho Chi Minh City there is a stand with this dish. They are easy to recognize by their “Cơm Tấm” sign and a wood-burning grill.
You can get Cơm Tấm almost any time of day, anywhere in Saigon.
If you want to eat it outside of the city, it is called Com Tam Saigon as it is considered a Ho Chi Minh City dish.
My impression is that it is a typical workers’ meal that tastes good and is cheap to find.
I’ve rarely paid more than € 1.20.
