Great map by Codiemaps

Ho Chi Minh City has 19 districts.

19 city districts and 5 suburban areas.

Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, is divided into several districts. The first 12 districts are numbered consecutively, 7 districts have their own names.

If you are in town for the first time, I recommend District 1, the center of Saigon.

Here are some of the most important districts of Ho Chi Minh City.

District 1: The heart of Saigon, renowned for its French colonial buildings and numerous other attractions.

District 3: A centrally located district distinguished by a variety of restaurants and cafes along a small tributary of the Saigon River.

District 5: A historically rich district characterized by its Chinese community and a variety of temples, such as the Thien Hau Temple.

District 7: A modern district focusing on upscale residential options and exclusive shopping.

Binh Thanh District: A neighborhood featuring many restaurants and cafes, as well as Southeast Asia’s tallest skyscraper, Landmark 81, complete with a shopping center, ice skating rink, and a beautiful park along the Saigon River.
